Content is King

Content is King

Authors are always looking for the next greatest thing to help sell books; back in the 90s it was the Internet, then shortly after that, email, closely followed up by blogs, Myspace, YouTube, Digg, Facebook, Twitter, Podiobooks and more. There is so much to do, so much to get your head around, its hard to know where you should be spending your time. No matter what year it is, one thing will always remain the same. Content is King.

Content can mean things like facebook, twitter, blogs, etc., but really what I am talking about is books. Your fans interact with you through those other things but what makes them your fans is not you ability to be witty on twitter, rather it’s the stories that you share with them through your writing. The best marketing advice I could ever give is to write another book, write a short story, write an origin piece about one of your characters- put something out there as content. This not only appeases those that have purchased previous works, but also casts a wider net to find new blood in your developing fandom. Content is King, and will always be.
